A Boeing 767 carrying over 200 passengers from New York’s Newark Airport made an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on Tuesday. Video footage showed the Polish Airlines plane touching down on the runway without landing gear, then sliding along before grinding to a halt. Airport emergency services rushed to the scene to extinguish a small fire and reported no injuries. The dramatic landing came only weeks after a similar incident in Iran in which a Boeing 727 plane was safely put down by a heroic pilot without its front landing gear.

A shorter version of the approach into Kai Tak without the music. Again, the lead in lights are barely visible through the rain as the video starts and then we get a great view of the checkerboard through to touchdown. This approach is in the rain. The other video is a little clearer but still grey out.

Boeing rolls out first 787 Dreamliner to go into service

Three years after it was first due for delivery, Boeing has rolled out the first 787 Dreamliner that is to be delivered to a customer. Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) were to take delivery in May 2008, but will now receive the aircraft next month.

The plane promises increased fuel efficiency as it is the first model to be built out of plastic and carbon composites, more lightweight than conventional materials. Boeing says they have 800 orders at $200 million per aircraft. Launch customer ANA have ordered 55.

Delayed by Boeing’s outsourcing system to a variety of subcontractors, two models have been developed. The 787-8 holds between 210 and 250 passengers; the 787-9 holds 250 to 290. Airlines choose the seating layout they want.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner of ANA (All Nippon Airways) lands at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi for the first time and received a grand water cannon salute. The aircraft flown all the way from Tokyo to Delhi and will depart for Mumbai on 15 July 2011. I had the pleasure to shoot this high-tech bird making it’s first international air show debut at Farnborough air show 2010.

Qantas Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Bangkok

A Qantas Airways Boeing 747 plane was forced to turn back to Bangkok and make an emergency landing.

An air traffic controller in Bangkok said the pilot sent a message to request landing in Bangkok, citing “technical problems.”

A Qantas spokeswoman says it’s unclear what caused the problem.

There were no reports of any injuries or casualties.
