The Dreamliner is a thing of beauty, and I was looking forward to seeing it takeoff, I was impressed at how much the wings flex upwards on takeoff, then when It returned to do a flypast, it had one WW2 Spitfires each side of it, fantastic!

See a plane fly off a cliff face on take off. The last air strip before Mount Everest summit – Lukla. To get in and out planes have to negotiate a vertical cliff face – watch how they do it!

Lukla is at 2,860 metres (9,380 ft.)

The width is 20m and the runway incline is a staggering 11,75°, equivalent of almost 20%. The apron has 4 stands and there is one heli-pad located 150m below the TWR (air traffic control tower). No landing aids are available and Air Traffic Service is limited to AFIS (Aerodrome Flight Information Service) only.

Boeing 757 Taxi out and take-off from Porto, Portugal. The mist enveloped on the airport just after we landed and within one hour the whole airport was covered up to about 1000 feet, pretty cool as we break through the cloud tops and then take a turn to the left. Also, note the interesting video aliasing effects on the props as they harmonise with the frame rate of the camera. It’s especially cool when the props move faster, and you can see how the camera scans from top to bottom for each frame as the props appear more and more “bent”. It’s a bit like the effect of how wagon wheels appear to be turning backwards, etc, in old movies.

Boeing 747-8 Freighter First Flight

With 747 Chief Pilot Mark Feuerstein and Capt. Tom Imrich in the flight deck, the 747-8 Freighter took off at 12:39 p.m. local time, Feb. 8 from Paine Field in Everett, Washington and landed at Paine Field at 4:18 p.m.

The 747-8 followed a route over Western Washington, where it underwent tests for basic handling qualities and engine performance. The airplane reached a cruising altitude of 17,000 feet (5,181 m) and a speed up to 230 knots, or about 264 miles (426 km) per hour. First Flight launches a test program that will include more than 1,600 flight hours.
